It’s hard to believe that March is already here and our season is flying by. We still have some great upcoming events for everyone to enjoy, including KCB Day, the St. Patrick’s Day parade, and Concerts in the Park. Please stay tuned for future information on the Beautification Committee’s annual “Hotdogs in the Hut” event planned for April 2nd.
Your Commission is very proud to announce Rebuild Florida (DEO) has awarded our City $2.28M for Public Safety Facilities Hardening. These additional monies are earmarked for hardening of the new City Hall police facilities. We are optimistic that these funds, together with anticipated FEMA dollars, will go a long way towards completing our new City Hall project.
We also recently received $400,000 in Stewardship monies and $212,000 from a State Water-Quality Assistance Grant. With these additional funds, the City will be completing the stormwater project on 10th Street. A workshop with residents of 10th Street is planned to address their questions and concerns.
Our appropriation bill (HB2057) has passed favorably through both the House and the Senate. Sponsored by Rep. Jim Mooney, this bill would fund the completion of our final stormwater projects. We anticipate it will move to the Governor’s Budget Committee around March 1st. We will keep residents informed as this important funding progresses.
In closing, a HUGE shoutout to all the athletes who participated in this year’s 7M Bridge Run! Can’t wait until next year!
