City of Key Colony Beach Official City Website

From Mayor John DeNeale: as of the 9/10/17 2:30 PM

Emergency Operations Center (EOC) conference call, here is what we know:
– many communications are down and we have still not heard from our team in KCB. Key West, Marathon and Islamorada did not report in either;
– a county team is trying to go out to assess the roads and infrastructure. The team includes Fire Rescue and FKEC;
– water and electric are mostly out;
– traffic is being stopped at Florida City;
– the storm surge is beginning to recede, widespread flooding is reported across the Keys;
– the rumor about snake creek bridge being out is FALSE, it is passable (several false videos were posted on the web);
– Air National Guard is starting C130 aircraft and helo flights tomorrow, and is currently assessing airports for safe operations;
– EOC is currently handling humanitarian issues first. There are reports of many people that stayed who are in trouble especially on boats (remember KCB has some of the best building codes in the county);
– FKEC is staging crews at Homestead raceway tomorrow;
– DO NOT GO OUT IN A BOAT, FWC said waters are very dangerous with debris and sunk boats. A special ops team is headed out of Tallahassee soon to help;
– National Guard medical and engineering crews coming in as soon as possible;
– There is no word on when we can get back in, but getting residents back is of course a priority.
