Monroe County Florida Keys Weather Briefing

This weather briefing is for emergency management and critical infrastructure core partners serving the Florida Keys of Monroe County.
NO WATCHES, WARNINGS OR ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT FOR THE FLORIDA KEYS AT THIS TIME
Bottom Line:
The combination of rich tropical moisture from the western Caribbean and an upper-level weather disturbance moving into the eastern Gulf will combine to provide several days of much-above normal rain chances, including the threat for rainfall-induced flooding.
There is a slight risk for excessive rainfall and rain-induced flooding across the Upper Florida Keys today through Tuesday night, with a marginal risk for excessive rainfall and rain-induced flooding across the remainder of the Florida Keys through Tuesday night.
Rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches are most likely through Wednesday evening, with isolated totals up to 10 inches possible. Flooding of poor-drainage areas and streets will be possible.
Timing:
Episodes of showers and thunderstorms, some with locally heavy rains, can be expected later today through Tuesday, with additional rainfall likely Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Impacts:
Poor drainage streets and areas may flood during heavy rainfall within the period from today through Wednesday evening. We are currently near the lower end of the tide cycle, however, high tides generally range from the pre-dawn to sunrise hours and in the late afternoon through early evening hours. High tides can slow drainage when heavy rain is falling.
