Weather Brief – Strong Thunderstorm Potential for this (Tuesday) evening/overnight tonight

FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE – KEY WEST:

  • There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms this evening over the Florida Keys, with localized damaging wind gusts near 60 mph the primary threat.
  • The highest risk for severe thunderstorms in the Florida Keys is expected during the evening and overnight hours tonight.  The threat for locally strong wind gusts begins to increase after 6:00 pm this evening, then peaks in a window from after 8:00 pm this evening through 4:00 am Tuesday.
  • The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked all of the Florida Keys for a MARGINAL RISK (Level 1 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms through tonight, with damaging wind gusts near 60 mph the main threat.
  • Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and warnings, and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.
