Great News for Key Colony Beach: TDC Approves $494,550 for Six City Projects
KEY COLONY BEACH, FL – September 29, 2026 – The City of Key Colony Beach is excited to share some wonderful news for our community. Today, the Monroe County Tourist Development Council (TDC) approved $494,550 in funding for all six FY 2027 Capital Project applications submitted by the City.
The approved funding will support improvements throughout Key Colony Beach:
- 7th Street Restroom Improvements – $80,500
- Basketball Court Improvements – $85,250
- City Hall Electronic Sign – $75,000
- Fitness Trail Improvements – $104,300
- Pickleball Restroom Improvements – $80,500
- Sunset Park Gazebo – $69,000
Total TDC Funding: $494,550
These projects will bring meaningful improvements to public spaces enjoyed by our residents, property owners, families, and visitors.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Tourist Development Council for supporting all six of our projects,” said Mayor Freddie Foster. “Receiving nearly half a million dollars in funding is wonderful news for our little City. These projects will allow us to continue improving the recreational spaces and amenities that make Key Colony Beach such a special place to live and visit.”
TDC Capital Project funding is supported through Monroe County’s tourist development tax and is intended to support tourism-related facilities and capital improvements.
The City extends a sincere thank you to the Tourist Development Council, the District Advisory Committee, and everyone involved in reviewing and supporting these applications. The City is excited to see these projects move forward and looks forward to sharing their progress with the community.
The projects will now continue through the remaining funding and agreement process before work begins. The TDC application process provides that following TDC approval, project agreements proceed to the County for final approval.
