Coastal Flooding Potential
- A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY remains in effect for all of the Florida Keys for moderate saltwater flooding of low elevation streets and lots, overflowing storm drains, and overtopped docks.
- This Monday morning, tides are running 0.8 to 1.0 feet higher than lunar/astronomical tide prediction charts indicate.
- Minor to moderate saltwater flooding is expected to continue throughout much of this week.
- The higher high tide is transitioning to the late evening/early pre-dawn hours this week.
- Tides are expected to continue around 0.7 to 1.0 feet above normal predicted values, with the peak tides are expected to reach between 3 and 12 inches deep in the lowest streets and lots in areas prone to King Tide flooding.
Rainfall Outlook
- The chances for rainfall exceeding one inch today (Wednesday) ranges from 35 to 45 percent for each Florida Keys community today. The chances of exceeding one inch of rainfall overnight Wednesday night and Thursday night range from 40 to 60 percent. The chances for similar heavy downpours begins to decrease Thursday night and Friday closer to 20 to 30 percent, and down to 5 to 10 percent Friday night through Saturday.
- The above-normal rain chances will occur as a strengthening high altitude trough of low pressure across the eastern Gulf brings deep tropical moisture northward over the Florida Keys.
