A temporary minimum in coastal flooding is currently being experienced in the Florida Keys.
- A Coastal Flood Statement is in effect for the Upper Florida Keys
- Continuation of periodic minor saltwater flooding of low elevation streets, parking lots, yards, and the overtopping of docks will likely be observed again the next few tide cycles, and continuously in eastern Florida Bay where there is very little tide cycle. Streets where king tide flooding is normally observed each autumn will likely to continue to see ponding of water.
- For the Middle and Lower Florida Keys, peak high tide levels are expected to remain below minor coastal flooding thresholds.
With the approach of the new moon phase on November 9th, the published lunar-driven “predicted” tides are likely to increase king tide season water levels and coastal flooding toward the end of next week.
- Coastal Flood Statements for minor coastal flooding will likely be expanded down the island Chain by the end of the week, with the Upper Keys (especially in the Sounds and easternmost Florida Bay) possibly requiring Coastal Flood Advisories.
- Coastal Flood Advisories for moderate coastal flooding likely to require expansion back down the island chain by early next week.
Afternoon island cloud lines could focus a brief heavy downpour or two onto portions of the island chain.
- The chance for receiving more than 0.50” of rainfall within a 6-hour period is low; 20 percent or less
- The highest potential for rainfall this afternoon is expected to be during low tide
