Tropical Storm Sara 9:00 AM EST …for the Florida Keys of Monroe County Friday, Nov 15, 2024

The latest update to the Weather Brief concerning newly-named Tropical Storm Sara in the Western Caribbean is attached.

  • Tropical Storm Sara is expected to move slowly westward close to the northern coast of Honduras through early Saturday, then approach the coast of Belize early Sunday.  Some slight strengthening is possible if the center of Sara remains over water to the north of Honduras.
  • A Coastal Flood Advisory continues in effect for all the Florida Keys for saltwater flooding of low elevation streets, parking lots, and some overtopping of low seawalls and docks around the times of high tide.
  • All of the Florida Keys remain outside the 5-day forecast track cone, and there are no expected impacts from Tropical Storm Sara in the Florida Keys weather and coastal waters forecasts.
  • Due to an increasing likelihood that Tropical Storm Sara will dissipate while moving over the Yucatan Peninsula early next week, and its remnants moving into unfavorable wind shear and cooler waters, no tropical redevelopment is expected over the Gulf of Mexico next week.
  • Weather Briefings concerning Tropical Storm Sara for the Florida Keys of Monroe County will likely be discontinued after this evening’s update. Stay weather-aware and routinely check for forecast updates.

The next Weather Brief concerning Tropical Storm Sara for the Florida Keys of Monroe County will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Friday evening.
