Locally Heavy Rainfall Potential through Tonight
- Poor drainage street, parking lot and low lying area flooding is possible during and shortly after any heavy downpours.
- Those living and/or working in areas prone to frequent rainfall flooding should keep aware of heavy downpours through sunrise Thursday.
- A COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT IS IN EFFECT for minor saltwater flooding of low elevation streets and lots. The risk for rainfall-impacted flooding will be highest during:
- This morning and again early Thursday morning.
- The hours of the higher high tide, generally during the mid to late morning hours
Potential Rainfall Amounts
- The chances for rainfall exceeding 2 inches within 24 hours is expected to be as high as 1-in-2 today, but decrease by Thursday and remaining very low through the weekend.
Outlook for King Tides
- A non-tropical gale is expected to develop offshore the Mid Atlantic states later this week, then slowly meander near coastal New England, possibly as a non-tropical storm, this weekend. A long fetch of north to northeast winds down along the entire eastern U.S. will likely lead to tides gradually rising along both sides (oceanside, and gulfside/bayside/soundside) of the Florida Keys.
- Coastal Flood Advisories may be required by this weekend and extending into next week.
- The times of high tides will shift from mid to late morning over the next couple days to both late morning/midday AND late evening/post-midnight hours by this weekend.
